GUEST LIST: 12-24 guests, a great mixer party

INVITATIONS: This sets the theme, so buy or create your own.Mail these (snail mail, not email or phone) two to three weeks ahead

MENU: Beer, Wine, soda, cheese, crackers, fruit, three hot hors d’ouevres, nuts, pretzels, two dips and chips, coffee, tea, assorted mini pastries  

DECORATIONS/THEME: Set a ladder at the entrance that everyone must go under; draw cracks on you mirrors; set out a pot of gold with a rainbow; hang horseshoes over your doorway; have a decorative frog by the door; set out a basket of acorns on a table; plan on red paper products. Research superstitions on the Internet and find ones you like.

ENTERTAINMENT: Help guests mix with an icebreaker. Divide guests into groups; do not have guests that came together in the same group.

Ice breaker - Fractured Superstitions:  See example below. Each group must finish the superstition. Give the groups 10-15 minutes, then read the answers.

ORGANIZE PARTY ITEMS:
Set out all the decorations and organize them so the guests will have to use them. Ex: Walk under a ladder to enter the home.

SHOPPING LIST: Form a list and decide whether you will buy (b), rent (r), or borrow (br) food, paper products; items needed for the icebreaker    

SCHEDULE OF TASKS: Mail invitations two to three weeks ahead; research good luck superstitions; create icebreaker; gather decorations; plan menu; grocery shop two or three days ahead; check on serving pieces; decorate rooms one to two days ahead; plan where to place the food;

LOGISTICS: Clear closets if needed. Give clear directions to your home and where guests should park. Plan the layout of the party, how guests will move around your homw and where food and beverge will be placed.
