Featured Party

When I host a party, organization and preparation are critical to its’ success. This actually astonishes my family because it is about the only time I am organized and prepared. This is how I plan my parties.

I decide why I want to have a party. Is it to unwind with co-workers after a work week? Meet new neighbors? A get together for friends? There are many reasons to entertain. Once I decide why, I organize my plan. I do not always have a theme, just a plan.

The following are suggestions; you decide how you want to entertain.

TYPE OF PARTY: Wine & Cheese, Coffee & Dessert, Dinner, Pot Luck

INVITATION: E-mail, phone calls or in person

MENU: Plan something easy or order your food from take out

DECORATIONS: Keep this to a minimum. Use items you already have and supplement with candles and plants. If using candles, never leave an open flame.

ORGANIZE PARTY DETAILS:
Think your party through and create a list of what you need to do.

SHOPPING LIST: List all you need to buy, both food and supplies.

SCHEDULE OF TASKS: Organize a list of what needs to be done and when. For example, cleaning should be planned for the day before the party.

LOGISTICS: Understand your guests needs and plan for them.

TRAFFIC FLOW: Plan where you will place everything and how guests will get there.

CONTINGENCY PLAN (if needed): Go through your party and think of other options.
